Meet our camel milk producers: All of them are from the legendary Raika community and their families have kept camels for many generations. The Raika believe that their ancestor was created by God Shiva to take care of camels. So they feel a deep sense of responsibility towards the welfare of their herds and have held onto them for the last decade despite shrinking income.
Earlier they bred camels to sell them at the famous Pushkar Fair, but as the demand for working camels has virtually collapsed, milk is their only potential source of income.
